Havana, August 5 (JIT)-- Cuban Alejandro Parada finished this Friday in the second place in the long jump at the Citius Athletic Meeting of Berne 2023, in Switzerland, with bronze category in the calendar of the World Athletics Tour Continental 2023.

The recent champion at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 stretched to 8.08 meters and signed his third record over eight meters in the current season away from home.

Although he only had one other valid jump (7.85 meters), his performance was enough to escort the Indian Jeswin Aldrin, winner thanks to a jump of 8.22 meters.

The trio of winners was completed by the host Simon Ehammer (8.03), a decathlon specialist, although he won the bronze medal in the long jump at the Oregon 2022 world championships.

Parada, also world junior runner-up in Cali 2022, is among the possible members of the team that will represent Cuba at the next World Athletics Championships in Budapest 2023.

The meeting in Berne, scheduled very close to the event in the Hungarian capital, scheduled for August 19-27, did not include the most important figures of the specialties called.
