Raidel Martinez saves 19th game in Japanese baseball

Havana, August 17 (JIT) - Cuban Raidel Martinez scored his third victory in the Japanese Professional Baseball League 2023.

The giant from Pinar del Río allowed a no-run home run in one inning of relief in the Chunichi Dragons' 2-for-1 win over the Yomiuri Giants at the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya.

His win was his second in a row and improved his record to 3-1 and his ERA to 0.24.

He also accumulated 26 saves, six holds points, 51 strikeouts in 37 innings, two walks and only one run allowed.

On the same day, Ariel Martínez hit two singles in four innings in the Nippon Ham Fighters' 6x0 win over the Lotte Marinos. His average rose to .255.

A day earlier, he hit a pair of doubles in four visits to the plate, scored once and drove in a teammate in the Nippon Ham Wrestlers' 6-5 win over the Lotte Marinos.

The matancero starter raised his total of hits to 53, a figure that reaffirms him as the leader in that category among Latin players.
