Havana, December 1 (ACN) - The Industriales Leones defeated the Cazadores de Artemisa 5-4 at the end of the first half of the qualifying phase of the II Cuban Elite Baseball League.

Guillermo Carmona's team was losing 0-4 against the Cazadores Artemiseños at the end of the ninth inning, but they made a bunch of five to leave them on the field.

In that ninth act, the Havana players hit eight hits including Jorge Alomá's home run against the seasoned reliever José Ángel García.

The golden jit was delivered by the emerging Jorge Rojas.

Meanwhile, Matanzas maintained its upswing in the tournament by beating Sancti Spíritus by a 13-1 knockout, with 15 hits and an individual highlight by José Noroña, who went 3-2 with a home run and two runs.

And Las Tunas overcame Santiago de Cuba 6-5, which continues with erratic defense and committed three errors. Yunieski Larduet hit two of the four hits for the Leñadores.

After these results, Industriales leads Industriales (12-8), followed by Matanzas and Sancti Spíritus, both with 11-9. Behind there is a tie between Artemisa and Las Tunas (10-10) and Santiago de Cuba is in the basement (6-14).
