Havana, December 19 (RHC) -- After adding another vote today, Cuban wrestler Luis Orta is emerging as the male winner of the Prensa Latina news agency's annual poll to choose the best athletes in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Orta, Olympic champion in Tokyo 2021 and winner of this year's world title in the Greco-Roman style 67 kilograms division, got the support of Cuban radio station Radio 26 this Tuesday, to reach 25 votes.

The Brazilian club Fluminense, champion of the Copa Libertadores de América, also increased its favoritism to win in the collective section, now with a total of 21 ballots.

Among the ladies, Radio 26 was in favor of Cuban canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo, who now accumulates six preferences, although in this sector the Venezuelan triple jumper Yulimar Rojas has a great advantage, with 26.

Voting for this 59th edition will be open until December 21, and the results will be announced one day later at a press conference at the headquarters of the Prensa Latina news agency.

The media, in all its variants -radio, television, written press, agencies, digital portals-, can send their chosen ones to deportes@prensa-latina.cu, to be compiled.   (Source: PL)
