Lima, February 7 (JIT) - The director of the agency in charge of Peru's sports infrastructure assured that Lima has the necessary facilities ready to host the Pan American Games again, even if they were to start immediately.

"If today were the Pan American and Parapan American Games in Lima, the sports infrastructure would be enabled," said Carlos Zegarra, who heads the agency that preserves and manages the stadiums and other facilities built or improved for the continental games held here in 2019.

The former Olympian declared himself optimistic about the possibility of Lima hosting the next Games, an honor for which he is competing with Asunción as a possible replacement for Barranquilla.

Zegarra's statements were accompanied by a list of the facilities used in the 2019 event and which are kept in constant activity and maintenance.

The list includes the National Sports Village (Videna), which has a class one athletic stadium, with warm-up and competition tracks, dry and wet sauna, gymnasium, physical therapy, anti-doping testing facility, press room, dining room and a hostel.

It also has an aquatic center with a capacity for 4,000 spectators and a warm-up, competition and diving pool with a tower.
