Havana, February 19 (ACN) - Cuba's top singles rowers are training in the central province of Cienfuegos, with their sights set on the qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Ángel Luis García, president and national commissioner of rowing, told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that the four chosen - three men and one woman - under the tutelage of coach Joan Manuel Paula, are Reidy Cardona, Leduar Suárez, Roberto Carlos Paz and Yariulvis Cobas García.

García explained that they will be staying at the Punta La Cueva hotel, located on the west side of Cienfuegos bay, but with a nearby beach and jetty, which will guarantee daily action until 3 March, when they will return to Havana.

In the José Smith Comas aquatic track, at the La Coronela dam in Caimito, in the western province of Artemisa, they will conclude their preparation for their departure to Rio de Janeiro, the venue for the pre-Olympics, scheduled to take place from 14 to 19 March.

The federation added to ACN that the fight for tickets to the Paris 2024 Games will be in the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon.

On the number of places in contention for the singles players, he explained that there will be five, that is, the first five of the finals of six athletes, so the first purpose is to advance to the finals, recalled Garcia.
