Havana, May 24 (ACN)-- The Cuban triple jumper Leyanis Pérez, indoor world runner-up, will debut tomorrow in the Diamond League of athletics of the current year 2024, in the fifth stop that the American city of Eugene will host.

Pérez, silver medalist in the world indoor track event held in Glasgow, Scotland, last March, will have seven rivals in the triple jump event, in a competition that must have a high qualitative level.

For example, among those registered is Thea Lafond, from Dominica, winner of the title on Scottish soil with a mark of 15.01 meters (m).

Another of those confirmed is the Ukrainian Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk, owner of two silver medals in universal outdoor competitions, according to the official site of the diamond event.

In the case of the athlete from Cuba, she finished second in Glasgow with a very good record of 14.90 m, to start the current season in a positive way.

The young triple jumper from the Island, already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, won bronze at the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary, last year.

Champion at the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023, Pérez is among the triple jump elite worldwide, and now in Eugene she will want to demonstrate that reality, in what will be her debut in the Diamond League this year 2024 .
