Robert Lewandowski vs Michal Probierz
Warsaw, Jun 12 (PL) Poland coach Michal Probierz resigned today after a quarrel with striker Robert Lewandowski, who had left the national team over the dispute.
"The best decision for the good of the national team would be my resignation as a coach. This position was the fulfillment of my professional dreams and the greatest honor of my life," said Probierz.
In statements provided by the Polish Football Association, the former coach thanked all the players he coached and the fans, adding that he wished them all the best.
The day before, the president of the Federation, Cezary Kulesza, said he wanted to hold talks with Lewandowski after his decision to no longer play for Poland as long as Probierz was the coach.
The 36-year-old striker stepped away from the national team after Probiertz stripped him of the team captain's armband to give that role to Piotr Zielinski.
