Caracas, February 5 (RHC) -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Tuesday presided over a ceremony marking the 22nd anniversary of a military rebellion led by late leader Hugo Chavez.
When addressing the ceremony, Maduro highlighted the role played by Chavez in leading the military rebellion in 1992, which sparked the social and economic changes in the country.
"Today is the day of national dignity. Venezuela started the rebellion led by the firm hand of our commander Hugo Chavez 22 years ago," Maduro said.
He added that the civic and military union was more powerful than before, which formed the basis for peace and stability.
Chavez led a failed military rebellion against then President Carlos Andres Perez on Feb. 4, 1992 before he was arrested and jailed.
