Mexico City, January 1 (RHC)-- The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) issued this Friday an encouraging message to Mexicans for the New Year and ratifying his faith in the future.

I have great faith in the future and I sincerely wish all Mexicans that we do well," said the president, encouraging his country in view of the health situation resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It is very important that we all embrace each other and put aside hatreds, grudges, bad deeds.  We have to think that only by being good can we be happy."

"Happiness is being well with oneself," López Obrador stressed and remarked that it also lies in being at ease with our conscience, that is our court.  "We have to love our neighbor very much", reflected AMLO.

The Mexican leader pointed to the role of the family and valued it "in the broadest sense, not only in the traditional sense, but what has to do with the people you love the most, those closest to you."

"The hope that there is always life; underneath the earth there is life.  I firmly believe in hope.  I am convinced that it is the breath that allows us to continue.  To trust in ourselves, in our family, in society, in the nation," said writer Beatriz Gutiérrez Múller, López Obrador's partner, who also sent a message to the Mexican people from the gardens of the National Palace.

The year 2022 has to be a year in which we leave this pandemic behind, insisted the university professor.
