Ramallah, June 1 (RHC)--Dozens of Zionist settlers in occupied Palestine have violently stormed a village in the West Bank, injuring at least 10 Palestinians.  Palestinian media reported that the settlers, escorted by the Israeli regime forces, attacked Palestinian citizens and their homes in the village of Jalud near the city of Nablus.

Local activist Bashar Qaryouti told Wafa news agency that three Palestinians suffered rubber bullet injuries and seven more were hurt by rocks hurled at them.  Furthermore, he added, dozens of Palestinians, including children, suffered toxic gas inhalation.

Civil defense and medical crews evicted a number of families from their houses following the assault, which prompted confrontations with Jalud residents, Qaryouti said.  Local sources said the Zionist settlers set a Palestinian house on fire during the raid.

Also on Tuesday, a group of Zionist settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles and homes in the northern West Bank town of Ya’bad with stones and blocked a nearby road leading to the city of Tulkarm.  Local sources said the settlers chanted racist slurs and death threats against the Palestinians.

In the predawn hours of Tuesday morning, Israeli forces stormed the Askar refugee camp on the outskirts of the West Bank city of Nablus, injuring some 46 Palestinians.  On the same day, the occupation forces raided the Nur Shams refugee camp, near the West Bank city of Tulkarm, sparking clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters.

Tensions have been running high in the occupied West Bank over the past year, with the Israeli military conducting near-nightly raids under the pretext of detaining what it calls “wanted” Palestinians.

Israeli regime forces have killed at least 158 Palestinians, including 26 children, since the start of 2023, according to Wafa. The death toll also includes 36 Palestinians who lost their lives in the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip on May 9-13.
