La Paz, March 23 (RHC)-- The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, called this Friday for the participation and collaboration of the population in the National Population and Housing Census to be held today, on Saturday, March 23.

"Today the country demands that our Bolivian population can contribute and collaborate to a large extent with the census process, so that we have important information, which will allow us to continue with the planning tasks at different levels of the State," the president stressed on the social network X.

The President referred to the construction of a National Agreement, which included 387 agreements with municipal governments, indigenous autonomies, departmental governments, peasants, public and private universities, social organizations and academic entities.

In addition, 950 socialization meetings were held with civil society organizations and neighbors, which allowed a statistical cartographic update, fully digital, in order to locate each house in the Andean nation.

"The georeferenced cartographic update, which was undertaken with a high technical level, in addition to the 59 questions of the census ballot that will seek to give us guidelines to carry out a better public policy, both for municipalities and for the departments and the National Government," said Luis Arce.

According to the President, the census will provide information that will allow the State, through the departmental governments, to make decisions to solve the problems identified.
"We are keeping our word, we said that on March 23, 2024 there was going to be a Census and everything is ready so that in 2024 there will be a highly qualified technical Population and Housing Census throughout the country," said the President.

For his part, the director of Bolivia's National Statistics Institute (INE), Humberto Arandia, said that this March 23, more than half a million volunteer census takers will register 5.8 million homes throughout the country, from 08H00 until after 20H00 (local time).   According to the official, the census will show a real-time snapshot of the Bolivian nation.
