Havana, July 18 (RHC)-- The Fifth Congress of the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians (ACTAF) wrapped up in the Cuban capital on Tuesday. The event, which hosted 300 delegates from all over the country, presented a new National Executive Committee and gave recognition to the organization for its 30 years of existence.
Participants at the meeting concluded that in order to achieve better results for the development of the country, it is necessary to coordinate activities in all provinces, especially with local governments.
Delegates said that this will give an important strategic alliance to guarantee sustainable agrifood systems, through water saving, efficient use of energy and confronting climate change.
Since 2014, the organization has promoted 16 collaborative projects aimed at strengthening production and service entities of forestry, urban, suburban and family farming and crop management.
At the 5th Congress of ACTAF, work commissions focussed on agriculture and forestry development, rural youth and food sovereignty, and sustainability of the institutional management model.
