Vimariel S.A., a newly created company to operate in Mariel Special Development Zone

Havana, July25 (RHC)-- Cuba and Vietnam have signed an agreement to constitute the company ViMariel S.A, the first administrative licensee to operate with 100% of foreign capital in the Mariel Special Development Zone in Artemisa province.

According to the agreement, the Cuban-Vietnamese company, a subsidiary of Viglacera S.A., will have the authority to build and manage a 156-hectare industrial park to host businesses related to construction, with a 50-year license.

According to the Zone´s general director, Ana Teresa Igarza. during its first stage it will seek to attract factories of glass blocks, sanitary furniture and flat glass,

She added that conversations are underway with several companies from different countries to install factories of construction materials in the Special Development Zone, considered the main enclave to encourage foreign direct investment.

Viet Nam´s ambassador to Cuba, Nguyen Trung Thanh, told Prensa Latina that the establishment of the new company expresses a new stage of the solidarity between the Cuban and Vietnamese people, and a show of support to the newly elected Government, headed by Miguel Diaz-Canel.
