Russia and Cuba examine progress of transport cooperation projects

Havana, September 5 (RHC)-- The XI Session of the Transport Group of the Intergovernmental Commission Cuba-Russia concluded on Thursday with the signing of a protocol for collaboration on new projects and for the execution of investments.

Naima Alfonso Acosta, Cuban Vice-Minister of Transport, and Dmitry Zverev, Russian Secretary of State and Vice-Minister of Transport, signed the protocol, which represent the willingness of the of both countries to multiply intergovernmental and commercial ties.

Alfonso Acosta told the press that the document is a very extensive protocol and that it includes aspects related to aviation, the railway system, and maritime transportation.

Meanwhile, Zverev also indicated that collaboration was agreed on rail transport, shipping, aviation, and the execution of investment projects in which Russian presence.

Next week a group will meet at the Ministry of Industry to analyze the maintenance activity and sustainability of the Russian fleet of aircraft that Cuba has, and there is the intention to sign in October a contract related to the modernization of the railway structure on the island.
