Moscow, October 2 (RHC)-- The U.S. blockade against Cuba is a collective punishment, whose application goes againt the UN Charter and the Declaration of Human Rights, Ignacio Ramonet, founder of the magazine Le Monde Diplomatique, denounced.

Speaking on a panel at the 4th Russia-Iberoamerica Forum, opened Tuesday in that Eurasian country, Ramonet said that this blockade punishes a whole society, as it´s happening at present with the hostile U.S. policy against Cuba and Venezuela.

The French journalist noted that in a tightened economic, commercial and financial blockade, the United States hinders the fuel flow to Cuba but he noted that Russia has the capàcity to carry out that task, referring to this week's visit to Cuba of Russian Prime Minister, Dmitri Medvedev.

Ramonet called attention to Cuba's attitude and expressions of solidarity with other countries, and highlighted the work of tens of thousands of Cuban doctors in other nations, as well as the training of doctors from nations from all over the world by the Caribbean nation,
