Havana, June 14 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said that the ideas of Antonio Maceo and Ernesto Che Guevara are a permanent presence in the daily struggles of the people.

The president recalled the historical coincidence of the birthdays of both revolutionaries -- on June 14th -- but in 1845 in the case of the Cuban and 1928 for the Argentinean.

On his Twitter account, the Cuban president wrote: "Maceo and Che are always present in our daily struggle, in our conquests, in our aspirations as a nation, in our commitment to solidarity, in our patriotism."

Previously, on the same social network, Diaz-Canel recalled the thoughts of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to evoke Antonio Maceo on the 175th anniversary of his birth.

"Maceo is ours, his glory and his memory we will continue to honor in a thousand different ways: ...in our work, in our struggles, in the fulfillment of our internationalist duties and fundamentally with our patriotism," Díaz-Canel quoted Fidel Castro.

Other figures from the Caribbean nation's government also alluded to the date, such as Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, who said that Cubans will follow the legacy of the two titans of the struggle for Cuba's freedom.

Deputy Prime Minister Ramiro Valdés also commented on Twitter that Maceo and Che are emblems of the revolutionary process in Cuba and in Latin America.
