Havana, August 19 (RHC)-- On World Humanitarian Day -- commemorated every August 19th, dedicated this year to those fighting against COVID-19 -- the performance of Cuban doctors who save lives in dozens of countries is praised.

According to the Cuban Health Network's website, Infomed, those working in this type of assistance have helped people in humanitarian crises in 54 nations, as well as in another nine that have been catapulted into humanitarian need.

The communications campaign focuses on the hashtag #HéroesEnLaVidaReal, which thanks those who dedicate their lives to helping others around the globe, even in extreme circumstances.  With this campaign, the United Nations presents the personal and inspiring stories of the humanitarian workers who prevent and fight the new coronavirus.

These are the experiences of those who provide food to the most vulnerable; those who provide safe spaces for women and girls during confinement; those who assist in childbirth; and those who work in refugee camps, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
