Cuba reports 9764 new COVID-19 cases and 78 deaths

Havana, August 20 (RHC)—Cuban health authorities reported on Friday  9764 new infections of Covid 19 and 78 fatalities over the last 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March last year, the  Caribbean island now accumulates  564 011 diagnosed cases of the respiratory disease and deaths.

As of midnight, there were  46 449 active patients were hospitalized.

Cienfuegos reported 2003 cases, Pinar del Rio 1 128 cases, and Havana 948 cases.

Regarding the health intervention underway islandwide with Cuban anti-Covid-19 vaccine candidates Soberana 02 and Abdala, authorities said that 12 320 691 doses have been administered and some 3 million people have been fully vaccinated out of a population of 11 million.
