Soberana

Havana, Oct 2nd (RHC) On Friday, Dr. Meiby Vicente Gonzalez, Director of Clinical Research at the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV) in Havana, reported that the clinical trial of the Soberana Plus vaccine with children convalescing from Covid-19 in Cuba will begin next Monday, Oct. 4th.

The specialist from the center that created the immunogen declared that 530 minors from two to 11 years old will receive the single-dose scheme at the 'Juan Manuel Márquez' Pediatric Hospital in the capital. The decision was informed after the end of phase I and II clinical studies, with Cuban and international regulations, based on scientific evidence and good practices.

On the other hand, the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (CECMED), the national regulatory entity, approved last September 23 the emergency use of the vaccine in patients over 19 years old convalescing from the disease.

The authorization allowed to extended immunization to the population two months or more after their medical discharge from the hospital or at home. Soberana Plus is applied in a single-dose schedule, with elements of immunological benefit against the potential risk of reinfection by new and more transmissible variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
