Cuba and Laos sign a cooperation agreement

Vientiane, September 05 (RHC)-- CubanFirst Deputy Foreign Minister ,  Gerardo Peñalver and his colleague Bounleua Phandanouvong signed a cooperation agreement between the foreign ministries of Cuba and Laos for 2022-2025.

Laos was the third and last stop on the Cuban Vice-Chancellor's tour of Indochina countries, which included Vietnam and Cambodia.

Peñalver handed the president of the Cuba-Lao Friendship Association, Chaleum Yiapahoeur, the Order of Solidarity and the Seal of the 60th anniversary of the ICAP (Cuban Institute of Friendship to the Peoples) in recognition of his work of solidarity in defense of the Cuban Revolution.

Last June, the top leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Thongloun Sisoulith, talked through a videoconference.

The two parties stressed the relations of friendship and solidarity between the two nations.

On occasion, Diaz-Canel proposed strengthening economic relations and expanding cooperation in health, education, sports, the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, and agriculture.

Sisoulith said that he would personally take charge of boosting cooperation in the area of health.
