Havana, Oct 5 (RHC) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz met Wednesday with Norodom Sihamoni, king of Cambodia (Cambodia), at the Royal Palace, as part of the program of activities of his official visit to that Asian nation.

Cuban ambassador to Nom Pen, Liurka Rodríguez Barrios reported on her Twitter account that during the exchange they recalled the friendship between King Father Norodom Sihanouk (1922-2012) and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), both founders of the Non-Aligned Movement and promoters of the ideas of peace and progress.

The Caribbean head of government arrived in Cambodia, the day before, to fulfill an extensive work agenda that included a meeting with his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and the signing of cooperation agreements in the sports and culture sector.

Marrero Cruz also lay a wreath at the Independence Monument of the Kingdom of Cambodia, a symbol of the history of that country, and paid tribute to King Father Norodom Sihanouk, in front of the statue that perpetuates his memory.

Cambodia is the last destination of Marrero’s first official visit to Asia as Prime Minister. He also visited Vietnam and Laos and participated in the state funeral of the former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, in Tokyo. (Source: ACN)
