Yuri Gala affirmed that the Caribbean nation is the target of a dirty campaign of manipulation that is betting on its collapse and subversion.

Havana, November 4 (RHC)-- The Alternate Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cuba to the United Nations, Yuri Gala, said Thursday in New York that the U.S. accusations are shameful when it took advantage of the pandemic to amplify the effects of the blockade against the Caribbean nation.

His words were addressed to the representative of the United States, who in the UN General Assembly, focused on ignoring the reasons exposed in that space in favor of the immediate cessation of the blockade imposed on Cuba and the result of the overwhelming support to the Cuban resolution approved by that international organization.

Gala affirmed that the Caribbean nation is the target of a dirty campaign of manipulation that bets on its collapse and subversion.

During his speech, he denounced that, although one of the main speeches made by the U.S. administration is that of guaranteeing compliance with human rights, the complex web of sanctions and pressures that directly affect Cuban entrepreneurs has not been reversed.

"The only arbitrary, prolonged and politically motivated detentions that take place in the national territory occur on the part of the United States itself in the illegal Guantanamo Naval Base," she added.

The diplomat stated that the first step towards respectful dialogue and the normalization of relations between the two countries would be the immediate and unconditional end of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on Cuba.

The international community once again endorsed for the 30th time the Cuban resolution "Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" with a positive result of 185 votes in favor, two against (the United States and Israel) and two abstentions (Brazil and Ukraine).

Following the intervention of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, most of the delegations present supported the request to end this unilateral policy.
