Diaz-Canel pays tribute to the founding father of the Republic of Türkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

Ankara, Nov 23 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez paid tribute today to the founding father of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as part of his official visit to this Eurasian nation.

He also held a fraternal meeting this morning with friends in Turkey from the Cuba solidarity movement, with whom he discussed the "creative resistance of the people against Covid-19 and the U.S. blockade. He thanked them for the multiple initiatives in the rejection of that inhuman and criminal policy.

Cuban president´s visit to this country takes place in the context of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, based on respect, solidarity, and cooperation for the benefit of both peoples, the text adds.

As part of his work agenda, Diaz Canel will hold talks with his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan and develop other exchange activities to strengthen economic and political ties.

The President of the island arrived in this country from Russia, where he met with President Vladimir Putin and other high-ranking officials, with whom he analyzed the cooperation plan until 2030, as well as other aspects of bilateral relations.

Previously, he was in Algeria, an Arab nation where he talked with its president Abdelmajid Tebboune about alliances related to fuel supply, the interest in collaborating in the development of medicines and vaccines, and the celebration of a session of the Joint Commission in Havana, in 2023.
