President of Equatorial Guinea receives Cuban Minister of Education

Malabo, Dec 8 (RHC) The President of Equatorial Guinea, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, received Thursday in Malabo the Cuban Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez, who attended the inauguration of the president on behalf of our country.

 

She conveyed the greetings of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel to the President of Equatorial Guinea and expressed her gratitude for the firm position taken by her government in the United Nations and the African Union against the U.S. blockade.

 

According to information released on Twitter by Havana's ambassador to the African nation, Malluly Díaz, the meeting commemorated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the good state of cooperation.

 

In June this year, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez paid an official visit to Equatorial Guinea during which he met with high-ranking government officials and parliamentarians.

 

On that occasion, they highlighted the willingness to continue strengthening ties between the two nations, mainly in the areas of health, education, and sustainable development.

 

With the presence of heads of state and personalities from several countries, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who won the elections held in the country last November 20 with 94.9 percent of the votes, was sworn in for his sixth term, according to an official count (Source: Prensa Latina).
