Havana, Dec 19 (RHC) The Presidency of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus recently approved a declaration on the need to end the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba.

As reported today on the website of the National Assembly of People's Power, the declaration states that "the Presidency of the Council of the Republic strongly condemns the application of sanctions against the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America ".

The document further qualifies "the action of the United States as a serious systemic violation of the principles and norms of International Law formulated in the UN Charter".

It also considers that the results of the vote on November 3, 2022, in the United Nations General Assembly on the resolution Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba "confirmed the international community’s almost unanimous rejection of this policy of sanctions and restrictive measures ".

According to the communiqué, the blockade against Cuba is the most prolonged act of economic warfare against a sovereign State; the consequences of which continue to limit the possibilities of economic growth of the country, curbing foreign investment, hindering trade relations with third countries, creating the maximum possible obstacles to banking and financial transactions.
