Díaz-Canel and Lula da Silva met in Argentina

Havana, Jan 24 (RHC) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, met this Tuesday in Buenos Aires with his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

 

In his Twitter account, @PresidenciaCuba noted that the meeting took place in the context of the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC, Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, which was held this Tuesday in Argentina.

This is the first meeting between the two dignitaries after Lula da Silva assumed the presidency of Brazil in early January.

 

Previously, they had spoken by telephone several times. The last one after the violent acts that took place in Brazil, he added in a tweet.

 

Díaz-Canel's speech on Tuesday highlighted the return of the South American giant to CELAC, evidencing the willingness to accompany the process of consolidation of regional unity.

With 33 member countries, CELAC is an intergovernmental mechanism for dialogue and political coordination that arises with the commitment to advance in the gradual process of integration of the region, making a wise balance between unity and political, economic, social, and cultural diversity.
