Cuban Prime Minister receives Serbian Minister of Culture

Havana, Feb 10 (RHC) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero received Thursday at the Palace of the Revolution the deputy prime minister and Serbian head of culture, Maja Gojkovic, who is on a working visit to our country.

 

At the meeting, Marrero said that Cuba appreciates the historic relations of friendship with the Serbian people and government based on the example of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

 

He assured that the bonds of friendship between both countries are based on the coincidence in the thought of being very independent, "characteristics that we have defended and paid for with blood but we have also sent a clear message that we are willing to do everything to preserve sovereignty".

 

For her part, Maja Gojkovic agreed on the similarities between the traditions and history of the two countries, proud of their independence and the legacy of their leaders.

 

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, as well as the Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ángel Villa, and the Director of Europe and Canada of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gisela García.

 

Danilo Pantovic, ambassador in Havana, participated on the Serbian side.

 

The day before, the heads of Culture of both countries signed a cooperation agreement on cinema that sets guidelines to develop and disseminate the film productions of the two countries and strengthen cooperation between the institutions involved in this area.

 

Within the framework of her visit to the Antillean nation, the Serbian high official participates in the activities of the XXXI Havana International Book Fair, inaugurated with the presence of President Miguel Díaz-Canel and which will last until February 19. (Source: Prensa Latina).
