Havana, Mar 3 (RHC) Cuban Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Norberto Escalona and Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation programs.

During a meeting, both representatives discussed the progress of bilateral agreements in hydraulics and energy, Cuban diplomatic sources reported on Thursday.

Al Suwaidi expressed his satisfaction with this progress and reaffirmed his deep interest in continuing to work on new cooperation programs with Cuba.

In 2019, Cuba’s Energy and Mines Ministry -alongside ADFD and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)- opened a 10 MW solar photovoltaic project in Cuba.

This plan contributes to the Cuban government’s national goals of reducing the use of fossil fuels for electricity generation and increasing renewable energy to 24% by 2030. (Source: ACN).
