Canadian ambassador to Cuba highlights Holguín's business potential in the context of the 16th Trade Fair

 

Havana, April 4 (RHC) The Canadian ambassador to Cuba, John Geoffrey Gartshore, highlighted on Tuesday the business potential of the eastern province of Holguín, during the opening day of the Sixteenth Trade Fair 'Expo Holguín 2023', which has Canada as the guest of honor.

The ambassador emphasized the links between the two governments in mining, health, science, renewable energy sources and tourism, where the northern nation is one of the main source markets for foreign visitors.

He highlighted the contribution to local development in the project to strengthen women in renewable energy in Cuba, implemented in the municipality of Moa, in order to support gender equality and the installation of solar panels and water heaters.

The diplomat also referred to the efforts to strengthen ties, especially with the province of Holguín, in support of the growth of new economic actors, such as the micro, small and medium (mipyme) enterprises led by women, one of the priorities of the Canadian Government.

For his part, Antonio Carricarte, director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba (CCC) called to promote new links in mining, hotel management, alliances between the public and private sectors and market studies to position necessary products and services in economic development.

Likewise, he enunciated Holguín’s values ​​in culture, traditions, crafts, tourism, science, of reference in eastern Cuba and attractive for the creation of commercial ties with the Dominican Republic, Panama and Spain, which are invited to the event.

Convened by the governor of the province, Julio César Estupiñán, and sponsored by the CCC and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, state entities, mipyme and self-employed workers participate in the meeting, and one of its objectives is to weigh the territory in national and international platforms.

The event, based in the exhibition center of the eastern city, will be in session until April 7, and the program includes conferences, panels, business rounds and presentation of portfolios of opportunities. (Source: ACN)
