Cuba highlights its commitment to regional integration

Havana, April 27 (RHC) - Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez highlighted this Thursday that the signing of the Acapulco Declaration demonstrates his country's commitment to genuine regional integration for the benefit of the peoples of the region.

Through Twitter, the head of the island's diplomacy stated that the signing of the document by Cuba, Mexico and Colombia will allow the creation of the Regulatory Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The three countries signed the day before in Acapulco, Mexico, the text that includes details and commitments of a common initiative for the creation of the drug agency in the region that will allow health self-sufficiency and access to medical devices.

In addition, it will make it possible to share research in the field and the transformation of offices that will contribute to pharmacological self-sufficiency and sovereignty among countries.

Experts describe the initiative as a milestone because the region does not have an infrastructure for the production of vaccines and other drugs, nor does it have authorization for the emergency use of medicines. (Source: Prensa Latina)
