Díaz-Canel reports that eastern Cuba begins recovery stage

Havana, Jun 11 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel assured today that the provinces affected by heavy rains in the center and east of the country began the recovery stage, although there are still flooded areas in that region.

In his Twitter account, the president revealed that he held conversations with Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia and members of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Felix Duarte, Yoel Queipo, and Jorge Luis Broche, who were deployed in working commissions to support eastern Cuba.

There are still flooded areas, but the situation is improving and the provinces are beginning the recovery stage, said the head of state. The Caribbean Island was hit in the last 72 hours by the persistence of rainfall and the overflowing of rivers in that region.

The National General Staff of the Civil Defense indicated the day before to intensify the measures for the protection of people and material goods; following with discipline the orientations of the local authorities.

The entity called to avoid imprudence given the increased risks associated with floods in Granma, Las Tunas, Camagüey, and Santiago de Cuba, mainly.

The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel has maintained constant monitoring of the hydrometeorological situation in these territories, and deployed work commissions to support the work of preserving life and resources of the economy. (Source: Prensa Latina)
