Congressman Boris Barrera

Santiago de Chile, Jul 27 (RHC) Chilean lawmaker Boris Barrera condemned before the Chilean Chamber of Deputies the U.S. blockade against Cuba and the situation suffered by that people due to an unjust policy maintained despite international rejection.

Barrera, a member of the Communist Party, sent from the Chamber a greeting to that brotherly people on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, a setback that history turned into a victory, he said.

Furthermore, he said that despite being subjected to an economic, commercial and financial siege for more than 60 years, that friendly, brotherly, supportive and resilient people achieved great advances in science and medicine that selflessly contributes to humanity.

The legislator recalled that in 30 votes at the UN an overwhelming majority of countries, including Chile, condemned that unilateral policy.

However, the blockade not only remains in place, but has been intensified since the administration of former President Donald Trump, condemning the Cuban people to suffer its consequences and exacerbating the difficulties.

It is for all these reasons that I call this hemicycle, but mainly the President of the Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to pronounce once again, for humanitarian reasons, in favor of the cessation of the economic sanctions against Cuba, he affirmed. (Source: PL)
