Indian parliamentarians ratify sentiment of friendship with Cuba

Havana, Jul 28 (RHC) More than a dozen members of the Indian Parliament today ratified their sentiment of friendship with Cuba during a meeting with the ambassador of the Caribbean country in New Delhi, Alejandro Simancas.

At the meeting, the deputies who are members of the two houses of the Legislature and representatives of various political tendencies, also confirmed their desire to work to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Simancas reiterated to the guests Cuba's willingness to deepen the historical ties of friendship, collaboration, dialogue and respect with India.

He also informed them about the tenth Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, especially the formation of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with India of the Caribbean nation.

The meeting served as a pretext to celebrate Cuba's National Rebellion Day, a date established on the Caribbean island in homage to the young people who, led by Fidel Castro, assaulted the Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba on July 26, 1953, and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in Bayamo, to trigger a popular insurrection against the dictator Fulgencio Batista.
