Havana, September 7 (RHC / Prensa Latina) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel affirms that after his recent tour of African countries, he was able to confirm that the relationship is that of sister nations.  In his statements, broadcast on the television program Mesa Redonda, the Cuban president stressed that during his tour of Angola, South Africa, Mozambique and Namibia, it was ratified that the nexus has a multipolar character, a view he considered necessary for the best performance of world relations.

He said it was an important tour for development and the economy, because in addition to confirming the functioning of the collaboration missions, new paths were opened to expand them with new modalities.

Díaz-Canel pointed out that his tour also allowed renewing the relations of friendship and cooperation with the member nations of the Brics (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), as well as learning about the prospects for South-South exchange.

He explained that his tour, which lasted from the 19th to the 28th, had been postponed for several years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the tightening of the economic blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation.

He highlighted as an important aspect for its realization the invitation of South Africa to the island to participate in the Brics Summit, in its capacity as president pro tempore of the Group of 77 and China.

He noted that during the tour he learned about life stories that mark the legacy of the close relationship of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, with the leaders of the liberation movements of those African nations.  It was possible to reaffirm the friendly relations marked first of all by history, since Africans are essential in the formation of the Cuban nationality, stressed the Cuban head of state.

He also stressed that in the various meetings the work of the island to achieve the independence of those countries and the elimination of the apartheid regime was recognized.

He also added that the presence of Cuban collaborators from different sectors in those territories and the role they play in those countries was acknowledged with great affection.

Díaz-Canel said that the recognition and gratitude to Cuba for all the solidarity provided was made latent, but the nations also ratify their support for the lifting of the unjust blockade and the elimination of the island from the unjust list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, drawn up unilaterally by the United States.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean nation, Anayansi Rodríguez, appeared on the television program and described as exciting the different meetings with Cuban collaborators and resident nationals, as well as the homage paid by Díaz-Canel to the heroes of each country.

The diplomat highlighted that important agreements were signed in economic and commercial matters, as well as inter-chancelleries.

The deputy foreign minister valued the presence of the Caribbean nation at the BRICS Summit as transcendental.

In this sense, she explained that the meeting was important to exchange with other dignitaries and reiterate the invitation to the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 and China, to be held in Havana on the 15th and 16th of this month.
