National Ballet of Cuba celebrates anniversary with a series of conferences

Havana, Sep 11 (RHC) The National Ballet of Cuba today organizes the series of conferences called An encounter with dance, technique, expression and styles, as part of the celebrations for its 75th anniversary.

Taught by Miguel Cabrera, the company's historian, the initiative is a constant work of the BNC for decades, which was promoted by the prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso to offer the art of ballet to all the people of Cuba, as well as the knowledge to appreciate it better.

The first conference will be next Thursday at the Alfredo Aguayo Primary School, in the Diez de Octubre municipality, in Havana, and will also feature the participation of Cuban dancers Nadila Estrada and Alejandro Alderete.

On Friday, at the Juan Abrantes Stadium, at the University of Havana, the company will commemorate the 67th anniversary of the act of reparation by the University Student Federation to Alicia Alonso and the National Ballet in 1956.

On September 22, the conference will take place at the theater of the Ministry of Communications, also in Havana, with the performance of the dancers Nadila Estrada and Alejandro Alderete.

For that occasion, the Spanish Dance from the third act of the ballet Swan Lake will be presented, by Chavela Riera and Yankiel Vázquez, and, from the same work, the Dance of the Four Swans from the second act, by Alianed Moreno, Melaine Leyva, Paloma Blanco and Camila Alfonso. (Source: PL)
