Cuban president holds meeting with Qatari businessmen

Havana, December 3 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel held a meeting with Qatari businessmen in Doha on Sunday on the potential for expanding and diversifying investments in the Caribbean country.

In its profile on the social network X, the Presidency of the Republic said that the meeting was attended by about thirty business representatives, linked to strategic sectors such as wholesale and retail trade, construction, maritime transport, tourism, energy, construction and arts.

Díaz-Canel described the dialogue as profitable, and stressed that the businessmen received an update on the transformations in the Cuban economy, as well as the strategic axes and sectors of the National Plan for Social Economic Development until 2030.

The president expressed to the participants the willingness of the Caribbean nation to move to a higher moment in economic relations.

According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the head of state, together with the delegation accompanying him, explained the broad investment portfolio and the high levels of security and political stability offered by Cuba.

After the meeting, the Cuban president held a meeting with members of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, led by its president, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, which he described as very good.

In the dialogue, the willingness to strengthen ties between the Qatari Chamber of Commerce and its Cuban counterpart was expressed, and investment opportunities in the largest Antillean island were also discussed. (Source: ACN)
