Santiago de Cuba, January 2 (RHC)-- In the presence of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, the Freedom Caravan departed from here on Tuesday, in a reenactment of the event 65 years ago.

From the intersection of Liberators Avenue and Trinidad Street, surrounded by the 26 de Julio School City (former Moncada Barracks), the Palace of Justice and the former Provincial Hospital, a jeep and two trucks with 40 students and young people departed and received the greeting of the presidency.

During the ceremony, Colonel Alberto Vázquez García, Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba, on behalf of those who were part of the Caravan after the revolutionary triumph, expressed the significance of the event and in particular the mission that corresponded to him as driver of the jeep where the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz was being transported.
