Windhoek, October 26 (RHC)-- Namibian President Hage Geingob met with visiting Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ileana Nuñez.

The Cuban official traveled to the Namibian capital, Windhoek, to attend the first meeting of a Bilateral Group set up by Presidents Geingob and Raul Castro to boost cooperation, economic and commercial relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, which was attended by Cuban Ambassador Giraldo Mazola, the Namibian president considered the actions aimed at having contacts on each aspect of the bilateral initiative.

The joint group aims at taking cooperation, economic and commercial relations to a higher level, as well as maintaining excellent and historic political links that Cuba and Namibia share.

The Cuban official, who returned home on Sunday, visited several economic facilities, such as a brewery and a meat-processing plant. She also met with Namibian Deputy Minister of Industrialization, Commerce and Development Pieter Van Der Walt.

The Namibian president paid his first official visit to Cuba last month after he took office in March this year.
