Havana, November 17 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez extended Cuba's sympathies to his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil for the 44 victims of a terrorist attack perpetrated in a southern neighborhood of Beirut.

"I have learned of the terrorist attack that claimed dozens of lives in the Burj El-Barajneh neighborhood, in Beirut. I convey my sincere condolences, which I extend to the relatives of the victims," said Rodriguez in a message handed over to Foreign Minister Bassil on Tuesday.

The Islamic State, ISIS, claimed responsibility for the double blast in Beirut, according to a Prensa Latina report on Tuesday.

Lebanese authorities have expressed gratitude for the support gestures and expressions from different governments after what they considered the worst terrorist attack since the end of the civil war in 1990.
