Washington, July 15 (RHC)-- The United States has given it's full support to Israel's new wave of aggression against Palestinians, saying Tel Aviv has a right to "defend itself." According to "The Hill," White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on Monday that there was no evidence that Israel is using disproportionate force in the coastal enclave.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the UN Security Council unanimously called for ceasefire and respect for "international humanitarian laws," voicing "serious concern" over the "protection and welfare of civilians" during Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

However, the regime in Tel Aviv responded by widening its air assault against the people of Gaza. Israeli jets targeted a mosque, charities and a home for the disabled, among other sites, according to media reports.

On Monday, the commissioner general of the United Nations Relief and Works agency, called on the Israeli armed forces to "put an end to attacks against, or endangering, civilians and civilian infrastructure, which are contrary to international humanitarian law."

The Israeli military frequently attacks the Gaza Strip, saying the actions are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, disproportionate force is always used, in violation of international law, and civilians are often killed or injured.
