Raul Castro and Uhuru Kenyatta hold official talks

Havana,March 15 (RHC)—Cuban President Raúl Castro led the ceremony of official reception to his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta, at the Palace of the Revolution.

Before holding official talks to evaluate bilateral relations, both dignitaries reviewed the ceremonies unit of the Revolutionary Armed Forces Staff and greeted their respective delegations.

Earlier on Thursday, the Kenyan president paid homage to the National Hero José Marti, laying a wreath at the foot of the monument Revolution Square, and toured the Memorial that evokes the life and work of the Apostle of the Cuban independence.

He also unveiled a bust of Kenya´s first president Jomo Kenyatta, erected in a park in the Cuban capital devoted to pay homaye to the founding fathers of the African continent.

On Friday, the Kenyan president will inaugurate the new headquarters of his country´s embassy in Havana.

This is the first State visit of President Uhuru Kenyatta outside Africa after his inauguration for his second and final term.

According to Kenyan Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, the visit seeks to further expand relations with the Caribean nation , a step that will enable enable her country to achieve its desired ‘Big Four’ agenda especially in health, agriculture, blue economy, tourism and sports.

The Kenyan dilomat also said the President’s State visit would culminate in the signing of a number of Memorandums of Understanding to cement and actualize the agreed areas of cooperation so as to enhance the bilateral relations.
