Rodriguez assured that Cuba is a symbol of freedom

Havana, January 17 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said that in Latin America and the Caribbean, everyone knows about the U.S. government's support of the most horrendous dictatorships in the hemisphere.

"Secretary (Mike) Pompeo is fooling no one," the Foreign Minister wrote on Twitter on Friday.  He noted that the history of crimes and U.S. complicity in disappearances and torture In Latin America is well known.

The head of Cuban diplomacy assured on that social media platform that the Caribbean nation, however, is a symbol of freedom, and added the label #We haveMemory.

History records several examples of Washington's support for the overthrow of progressive governments in the region, such as that of the socialist Salvador Allende in Chile in 1973, and even the most recent against Evo Morales in Bolivia.

At an OAS meeting on Friday, Pompeo again criticized Cuba and Venezuela and defended the OAS Secretary-General, Luis Almagro, who is a promoter of hostile U.S. policy in the region.
