Vocal Sampling press conference in Beijing (PL)

Beijing, August 5 (RHC) – The Cuban vocal group Sampling is building a bridge between Cuba and China with an album of pieces of the traditional Chinese repertoire.

The album will be launched during its first tour of the Asian Giant which Vocal Sampling is currently visiting. In statements to the media, director René Baños assured that performing in China could help boost cultural exchange between the two nations. The Vocal Sampling tour includes three concerts on August 7, 8 and 9 in the cities of Shenzhen, Dongguan and Guangzhou respectively, all of them in Guandong province.

The album has been especially designed for the Chinese audiences, including pieces of the group’s repertoire and four pieces of traditional Chinese music adapted to the ensemble’s ‘a capella’ style.About how hard it was for it to make Chinese music and versions of its best known   tunes, such as Tian Mi Mi (As sweet as honey), one of the Asian Giant’s most famous and representative songs, Baños said that it was challenging but educative. As part of Vocal Sampling’s stay in China and the scheduled concerts, the group will also record other pieces of the country’s traditional music, thanks to its cooperation with various local firms.
