Photo Exhibition 'Todos a la Plaza' opens online from Cuba's José Martí National Library

Havana, April 15 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ministry of Culture has prepared a program of activities to commemorate the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, Cuba’s Victory at Playa Girón –known internationally as Bay of Pigs-- and May Day –International Workers Day.

The first such activity was the live streaming from Havana’s José Martí National Library of the opening of three exhibitions. ‘Todos a la Plaza’ is the title of the first exhibition and also of the hashtag used to post it on social media.

The president of the National Council on Fine Arts Norma Rodríguez Derivet informed that the exhibition compiles photos taken by some 50 Cuban artists, from different generations. It relates the history of Havana’s Revolution Square, the venue of countless mass gatherings of Cubans, ever since the triumph of the 1959 Revolution, either to celebrate International Workers Day or listen to leader Fidel Castro.

The director of the National Library Omar Baliño explained that the second exhibition compiles bibliographic materials about the Communist Party of Cuba and the organization’s congresses from 1925 to this date, and a third exhibition compiles historical documents about the mercenary invasion at Bay of Pigs in April 1961.
