exhibition 'Vengo del sol, al sol voy'

Another exhibition inaugurated Thursday dedicated to José Martí on his 169th birthday anniversary was opened at the memorial bearing his name at Havana’s Revolution Square. Entitled ‘Vengo del sol, al sol voy’, it comprises works by notable Cuban artists, inspired by ‘Versos Sencillos’ (Simple Verses), written by Martí in 1891.

The works on display were created by 18 artists, using different techniques photos, engravings, paintings, installations. Zaida del Río, Roberto Salas, Juan Moreira, Nelson Domínguez, Roberto Diago, Aristides Hernández, all inspired by quotes of José Martí to create.

Curated by Alicia de la Campa and Margarita Ruiz, the exhibition ‘Vengo del sol, al sol voy’, dedicated to the Cuban National Hero is organized by the National Council on Fine Arts as part of the 14th Havana Biennial, which runs through April 30th.
