Cuban artist Hilda Venero to receive National Circus Award

Havana, Aug 20 (RHC) The outstanding artist Hilda Venero will receive today the National Circus Award 2023 at the Trompoloco tent in Havana, as part of the special gala for the 55th anniversary of that institution.

 

Venero will receive the award from authorities of the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and the National Council of Performing Arts during the anniversary function of the National Circus of Cuba.

 

The renowned professional, whose artistic name is Niurka, was the founder of this circus institution and the first Cuban woman to perform as a light acrobat on the scales.

 

She ventured into different specialties of the circus genres and has received numerous national and international awards during her 59-year career as an artist, teacher and researcher.

 

Today's special performance, under the direction of Clary Fernández, in addition to the show Del circo soy by the Cirkavana company, will include dancers, acrobatic acts, Swiss, scales, capillary force and roller skates, among others, according to the organizers. (Source: Prensa Latina)
