Havana, Dec 16 (RHC) The Chilean films Los Colonos and La malquerida, and the Cuban film La mujer salvaje (The Wild Woman), led the collateral awards at the 44th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, which is entering its final stretch.

Chosen to inaugurate the film event, which will conclude next Sunday, Los Colonos, by Felipe Gálvez, won the Glauber Rocha Award, granted by the foreign press accredited to the festival and sponsored by Prensa Latina, while it won a special mention of the Pangea Award, from the Agrarian University of Havana.

The Chilean filmography was also felt in the prelude to the awarding of the Corales, the top prize of the event, with the work Malqueridas, by Tania Gilbert, which won the Martin Luther King Center Pathways Award and the Feisal (Federation of Schools and Image and Sound of Latin America).

But undoubtedly, the biggest winner of collateral awards in this edition was the Cuban film La mujer salvaje (The Wild Woman), by Alán González, which received the Mégano Award from the National Federation of Cuban Film Clubs, the Cine Plaza Award, the Cultural Circle Award from the Union of Cuban Journalists and the Súmate por una vida sin violencia (Join Us for a Life Without Violence) Award.
