Fashion in da House, fashion in Cuba for the Month of Europe

Havana, May 7 (RHC) As part of the month of Europe, the Fashion in da House event, a fashion show organized by UNESCO and the European Union, will be presented today in Havana at the National Museum of Fine Arts.

A group made up of 16 young Caribbean designers will represent the creativity of the region in a contest aimed at promoting the fashion industry, an area with great development potential in the Caribbean.

International experts in fashion and entrepreneurship, including Omoyemi Akerele, general director of Lagos Fashion Week, Nigeria, will provide advice to these creators and will be part of the Transcultura Awards jury.

Participants in this unprecedented fashion show come from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. These designers were the finalists of the Made in the Caribbean Fashion Design Competition.

With this artistic forum, UNESCO and the EU seek to recognize young talent in the region and promote entrepreneurship in the fashion industry.

The event takes place in the context of the program “Transcultura: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through Culture and Creativity”, financed by that organization. (Source: PL)
