Havana, August 26 (RHC) – The Sancti-Spiritus native, Frederich Cepeda, became the 10th player to hit 300 Home-Runs in the Cuban Baseball Series. He only needed one homer to reach the 300-mark, but the veteran outfielder hit two on Sunday to complete the milestone.

``The Home-Run was going to come eventually, I just needed a chance to make good contact with ball. I made it to the 300. You think of everything when this kind of things happen, you think about your family, about the people that have influenced your career´´, Cepeda said on national TV.

The career milestone was achieved by the Athens 2004 Olympic champion and runner-up in the 1st World Baseball Classic, right after setting a curious record for the Cuban Baseball Series: getting seven consecutive walks.

Although Cepeda finished the game on Sunday with 5 RBIs, his team, the Sancti Spiritus Roosters, lost 15-10 to the Isla de la Juventud Pirates. In a game in which the Pirates avoided a series sweep, pitcher Miguel Angel Lastra won his 3rd game of the season and Dani Aguilera pitched two innings to help his team win, although he did not score a Saved Game.

The Camaguey Bulls still follow the Rooster closely, after defeating the Granma Sorrels 6-0 and winning the series 2-1. The Villa Clara Azucareros also won the series 2-1 against the Pinar del Rio Vegueros. While Industriales Lions and Ciego de Avila tigers also won their series against the Guantanamo Indians and the Santiago de Cuba Wasps.

The Mayabeque Tornadoes avoided the sweep against Artemisa Hunters, and the games between the Ciefuegos Elephants and the Matanzas Crocodiles, and the Holguin Cubs vs Las Tunas Lumberjacks were not played.
